This past summer the UCLA chapter of Hillel, a national organization of students committed to the Jewish faith and lifestyle, met and surpassed its fundraising goal for the Hillel at UCLA Has Chutzpah campaign. The feat was achieved through the generous contributions of 265 donors as well as 12 active participants who helped spread the UCLA Has Chutzpah word. Money raised this past summer will benefit the Jewish community in a number of ways while also allowing UCLA Hillel to continue providing services and events to the school’s Jewish population.
UCLA Hillel enjoyed further success this summer as David Chernobylsky, a Jewish student at UCLA, earned a Jewish Academic Innovation Award for his research paper All Kinds of Meshugas: The Temporary Insanity Defense Under the Jewish Prism. The paper is rooted in a 1980s murder trial and can be read about in more detail at www.jewishjournal.com.
