With more than 60 studios nationwide, SoulCycle offers a cardiovascular and full-body exercise experience. Known for its dark rooms and loud music, SoulCycle’s core component is the bike and its clip-in pedals. To ensure beginners have a positive exercise experience, SoulCycle offers basic instruction on how to mount and dismount the bike with ease, how to use the bike correctly, and how to find the best bike set-up. Because each person is different, bike set-up is an area that can mean the difference between a good workout and a miserable workout.
Correctly positioning the seat is the first step in achieving a comfortable exercise experience. Putting the seat too close or too low in relation to the handlebars can put pressure on the rider’s knees, causing pain. The ideal seat height is approximately the same height as the rider’s hip when standing flat on the floor, and the handlebars are best fixed at a height where the rider must lean slightly forward to hold them. Sitting too high or too low may cause back pain. SoulCycle trainers record each individual’s bike settings in a client profile, so the information is retained and the bike can be set the right way every time.
